Buddhist Temple - Oxnard
Part bold vision, part labor of love, the transformation of the beloved OBT Temple and social hall stands as one of McM Concrete’s most meaningful contributions to the community. Tasked with the challenge of constructing new foundations beneath a century-old wood-framed structure, we embraced the opportunity to preserve history while securing its future.
How did we achieve it? By lifting the 100-year-old Pioneer Building a full five feet into the air. Through precise planning and careful coordination with our trusted subcontractors, the building was safely elevated and supported on temporary cribbing giving our crews the access needed to excavate and form new structural footings with confidence and care. From there, we poured concrete stem walls, installed anchored pressure-treated sill plates, and executed a seamless, pinpoint lowering of the building onto its new, perfectly level foundation. With only one chance to get it right, the McM team delivered flawlessly, honoring the integrity of this sacred structure.
To complete the renovation, McM was asked to perform the sitework scope of work and installed beautifully crafted colored concrete slabs and benches highlighted by a decorative topcast finish, both inviting reflection and gathering. We are honored to have played a role in strengthening the Temple’s legacy and proud to know our work will help sustain this cherished place of worship and community for the next hundred years.
